For the years 1996-2003

1997-1998 GTI, GTS and GTX

Tools Needed:

  • Drill,
    • 1" Hole Saw Bit,
  • Center Punch,
  • Razor or Utility Knife,
  • 2 Large Crescent Wrenches, Channel Locks, or 3/4 Drive Ratchets with 1 1/16-1 1/8" sockets.
  • Marker or pencil.
  • Lithium grease or anti-seize,
  • Right Angle Square.

Hitch part contents:

  • (1) velcro boot covering,
  • (1) urethane tow pad,
  • (1) stainless Bracket assembly & one stainless bottom plate;
  • (2-3) 3"x 3/4"-10 Stainless bolts,
  • (2) 2"x 3/4"-10 bolts,
  • (8-10) flat fender washers,
  • (5-6) spring lock washers,
  • (4-5) 3/4"-10 nuts,
  • (2) 3/4"-10 Jamb Nuts,
  • (2-3) aluminum bow eye bushings.

1. You will need to drill two 1" diameter holes. To do this, draw a pencil line from the center point on the end of the stern step towards the tow cleat. With a square, measure in from stern step moulding edge 5.25 inches.

Draw a perpindicular line to the first line 5 inches in each direction from the midline. Place top hitch elevated stainless bracket assembly on step and position mounting holes over the pencil line. Draw an outline of the circles in the bottom plate of the hitch bracket on the step.

Make sure the hole position will clear the pump nozzle underneath when the bottom plate and bolts are installed before drilling holes. Reposition if needed.

Drill holes. A center punch sometimes helps with guiding the drill bit when starting the hole.) (Figures for Sea Doo model are currently unavailable.)

2. The top and bottom match plates will distribute the stress load across the PWC stern. Place 3/4" x 3.5" Bolts and fender washers provided through the holes on hitch bracket. Run the bolts through the slits in the velcro boot making sure that the velcro is facing up (Figure 7).

Place the entire assembly on the stern area of the PWC, passing the remaining thread through the pwc hull. (See figures below) ( It may be easier to run the bolts up from underneath the transom instead of from the deck side.)

3. Once you have placed the top part of hitch assembly on the pwc stern and passed the bolts through the aluminum bushings, locate the bottom match plate, fender washers, lock washers and nuts (some pwcs require an assistant on assembly to help get enough bolt thread for the first time).

Align the entire assembly, and tighten down all the nuts and bolts. To mount sled, remove the cross pin, locate sled up to hitch, reintall cross pin, fasten lynch pin to end of cross pin. Fold velcro boot over and fasten to sled.

You're good to go! (Approximate assembly time: 30-45 minutes.).

Periodically, you will need to adjust and retighten the play in the double nut feature. Also, you will need to periodically retorque the rest of the nuts on the hitch. Even though the nuts are torqued on with spring washers, vibration tends to loosen the nuts slightly over a period of a few months. So, as a precaution, check the fastening hardware at every pre-op and post-op.

Tools Needed:

  • · Drill,
  • · 1" diameter Hole Saw Bit,
  • · 2 Large Crescent Wrenches, Channel Locks, or 3/4 Drive Ratchets with 1 1/16-1 1/8" sockets.
  • · Marker
  • · Lithium grease or anti-seize
  • · Lock Tight thread locking compound
  • · Silicone adhesive

Hitch part contents:

  • (1) velcro boot covering
  • (1) urethane tow pad
  • (1) stainless Bracket assembly & one stainless bottom plate
  • (3) 3.5"x 3/4"-10 Stainless bolts, (5.5" x 3/4"-10 for 4-Tecs)
  • (2) 2.5"x 3/4"-10 bolts
  • (8-10) flat fender washers
  • (5-6) spring lock washers
  • (5) 3/4"-10 nuts,
  • (2) 3/4"-10 Jamb Nuts

Your hitch assembly for your pwc comes pre-assembled. To begin the installation process by drilling the mounting holes, disassemble the lower portion of the assembly containing the flat stainless steel plate, the 3-inch long stainless bolts, nut and washers and hitch boot cover ONLY. Do not remove or disassemble the upper components containing the elevated stainless steel box, the urethane tow pad, and the triangular hitch bar.

1. You will need to drill three 1" diameter holes. To do this, place hitch bottom stainless match plate on step and position center mounting hole over the round circle imprinted between Sea and Doo on the rubber pad on the pwc transom step.

After positioning the stainless plate and making each end of the plate edges equal distance from the stern edge, draw an outline of the circles in the bottom plate of the hitch using a marking pen.

Drill holes. A center punch sometimes helps with guiding the drill bit when starting the hole.)

2. The holes that were drilled through the stern step on the Sea Doo may not be solid fiberglass and may be of sandwich construction, leaving airspace between the fiberglass layers, which could allow very small amounts of water into the pwc hull. To seal this area between the gaps in the 1"diameter holes, apply some silicone adhesive and create a moisture barrier.

The top and bottom match plates will distribute the stress load across the PWC stern. Place the entire top part of the hitch assembly on the stern area of the PWC, once again.

Locate the bottom stainless plate, the three bolts and flat washers, lock washers and nuts. Place 3/4" x 3.5" Bolts and fender washers provided, through the holes on hitch stainless steel bottom plate.

Position the bolts and 3 flat washers and bottom stainless plate under the rear transom step ( above the jet pump nozzle), run the bolts through the holes in the fiberglass pwc hull and through the hitch boot cover and the holes in the bottom mounting plate of the top hitch assembly. Locate the remaining 3 flat washers, the lock washers, and the nuts. Thread them onto the bolt threads. Align the entire assembly, and tighten down all the nuts and bolts.

To mount sled, remove the cross pin, lightly grease cross pin, locate sled up to hitch, reinstall cross pin, fasten lynch pin to end of cross pin.
