Advantages
and Disadvantages of each Sled Attachment Type
SOFT ATTACHMENTS

Advantages:
Disadvantages:
- High maintenance in replacing frayed
bungee cords (Risk of blowing one out
during a rescue. Neck and back injuries may result.)
- Since sled nose rests on pwc stern
step:
- 1. sled, constantly rubbing against
stern, wears out padding on pwc stern step and removes gelcoat.(
Loan Dealers do not like this!)
- 2. Increases stress and possibility
for damage to sled bottom throughout normal use: The end
of the pwc stern step acts as a support mechanism for this
sled design, yet it also has potential for producing large
enough leveraging forces against the sled bottom when weight
is placed on the sled and the pwc is operating in rough
water conditions.
- 3. The amount of space between the
sled operator's head and the rear of the pwc seat is small
which can increase the chances for injury. Should pwc's
forward motion stop suddenly, momentum contained within
the sled operator will carry them into any object directly
in front of them, namely the pwc seat and hull!
- Decreased Life Expectancy than that
of a sled utilizing a solid hitch (Not by months but by years!)
- Not as stable or as secure as a solid
hitch attachment.
SOLID
ATTACHMENTS

Floating Lanyard keeps lynch pins secure and
in an easy to find place!

Advantages:
- Installed in 30 minutes or less, you
may attach or detach the sled from the pwc in less than 5 seconds!

- The combined sled design and hitch allows
the sled to operate independently from the pwc, yet maneuver with
the pwc as well.
- This:
- 1. Decreases stress on sled since
sled nose does not rest or rely on pwc stern step for sled
hull support.
- 2. it allows the sled operator to
ride on the sled at an increased and safe distance away from
the pwc seat and
- 3. gives a much more stable and secure
platform to ride upon, increasing performance and reliability!
-
The degrees of freedom
provided by Quick Hitch ( limited to up and down and some side
to side motion-up to 45 degrees) minimize any potential damage
to both the sled and pwc hull.
-
A protective hitch boot
covering protects head and limbs from coming in contact with
hitch components.
-
The durable, time-tested
components in this product have been developed and used in the
extreme working environment for almost a decade and will give
you many hours of safe use provided that the maintenance and
safety guidelines are adhered to.
-
Extractor provides
a limited 1 year warrantee on any fiberglass area should it
delaminate from the foam core, and a lifetime warrantee on hitch
parts with broken or cracked welds.
-
Repair ability/Serviceability-
The sled is modular in the sense that every part can be repaired
or can be replaced, prolonging the life-expectancy of the product.
-
Different sled sizes
can use the same Quick Hitch.
-
Reciprocity- Yes! Reciprocity!
EXTRACTOR has been specifically designed with the PWC Loaner
Program in mind!
-
Each individual pwc
dealer has to be able to sell the craft after the pwc is
returned following the loan period.
-
The condition in which
the boat comes back to the dealer in has bearing on how
much the dealer may make in the sale of the boat.
-
The better the condition,
the more the dealer makes. The better the returned condition,
the higher the potential the dealer will be willing to loan
out a pwc to any particular agency the following year.
-
EXTRACTOR is the only
sled on the market which has been developed to minimize any
potential damage to the pwc while the product is being used.
-
Replaceable components
in the Quick Hitch system have been designed to take on the
wear and tear so that the pwc hull and sled do not.
-
The Bow Eye Bushings
installed in the pwc stern step are used for passing the stainless
bolts through the pwc hull so the hitch can be fastened securely.
Disadvantages:
- Initial Cost is a few hundred dollars
higher (But the Life Expectancy is Much Greater)
- Some drilling needed for installing hitch.
- One to three 1 inch diameter holes
will need to be drilled to fasten hitch to the pwc.
- However, these holes get covered with
Bow Eye Bushings which look OEM upon time to return all loaner
pwcs to the dealer. (Please take this information and a copy
of the Hitch Installation Procedure to your dealer for review
and approval for use of Quick Hitch on Loaner pwcs)
- A Quick Hitch is needed for all pwcs that
are to use a sled with the solid hitch.
